Diane began singing in coffee houses and musicals in her hometown of North Bay, Ontario. During her post-secondary studies in Sudbury, she was active in the Franco-Ontarian music scene and took part in many venues including “La Ruche des artistes” and “La Brunante”. A teacher, musician, performer and song-writer, she continues to share her many talents with her school, her community and the Franco-Ontarian community at large. Diane has been sowing her passion for music into her students for a little over 14 years. At the beginning of her teaching career, she was able to hone her pedagogical skills in Edmonton in the French music education program offered at the University of Alberta. Following these studies, Diane was called upon to teach the music component in the Ministry of Education’s primary and junior specialist qualification courses. She was also sollicited, for three years running, to prepare a French music workshop for grade 7 and 8 students participating in leadership in the arts and communication sessions offered by the Ontario Education Leadership Camp. In the midst of this, she continued to compose and some of her songs were created for original musicals staged at her school. Active in her community, Diane has worked hard to promote Franco-Ontarian culture. She has organized numerous coffee houses and has sung at many supper events in the area. She has contributed to CABLE 14 community television programming by composing and singing the theme song for the French community’s television program Au coeur des gens which she also helped to host on occasion. Over the years, she has performed in Saint-Jean-Baptiste events in Hamilton and Toronto. Diane has also composed a number of songs that have been used to help facilitate worship in her French church community. During a sabbatical leave, Diane spent a year with Youth With a Mission in Cambridge, Ontario. She participated in the evangelistic drama Toymaker and Son and performed this dance-mime in Honduras, the states of Louisiana, Virginia, New York and in the province of Ontario. She followed this up by taking the Arts in Minsitry program as a music major. She came out of this time even more convinced that she should put her musical and artistic abilities at the service of sharing the Truth. In 1995, Diane participated in Ontario Pop as a singer-songwriter-performer and was chosen as a finalist where she took part in a Radio-Canada broadcast for both television and radio from the National Arts Center in Ottawa. On the heels of this, in 1996, her song “Amour sans frontières” (Love Without Borders) was featured on the APCM ‘s (a Franco-Ontarian professional musicians’ association) compilation disc Pleine lune. It is with much enthusiasm that Diane brings to you her first album. “Allez proclamer!” (Go Proclaim!) is christian pop en français. These songs have been tried and tested for over 10 years, in her classroom, with her choir and during liturgical celebrations. These songs are kid approved and what’s more, grown ups like them too! Her show will keep your hands clapping and your feet tapping. You won’t want to miss it... © 2003 La Via
